Winter Wonderland

Pringle Creek Community has become a winter wonderland this week. Residents are enjoying the snow, and finding some good places to sled and make snow angels! The cedar and sequoia branches are adorned with snowflakes, while other trees are glistening with ice. The greenhouses are holding up to winter temperatures with gardens growing inside. Because homes are energy efficient, they're keeping warm and cozy at a lower cost than traditional homes. Master Gardener Talk with Urban Farmer, Colleen Owen

The Master Gardeners came out last week to listen to our star Urban Farmer, Colleen Owen, bestow her wisdom on how to utilize a green house year-round. Colleen participated in the Master Gardeners programming this year through Oregon State University. During this time, Colleen was also running the Urban Farmer classes by the Sustainable Learning Center at Pringle Creek Community. Long story short, all of these brilliant classes led to a meeting with Michael Johnson, a Fellow Master Gardener. Chemeketa Students Learn Sustainable Land Practices

At Pringle Creek Community, we serve as an example of what a sustainable community is by being the only residential development in Salem to have LEED certified and energy efficient homes. Our sustainable practices continue from the homes we build and into our dedicated green space, which includes Pringle Creek, itself. We also have a non-profit called the Sustainable Learning Center with a focus on education and sustainable practices, which functions within Pringle Creek Community.
