A “net-zero” home generates, and puts back onto the utility grid, as much energy as it pulls off, creating a net-zero effect for energy consumption. Each home may have private yards and terraces – typically south facing. Major rooms of the house may open directly onto these sun-oriented private outdoor spaces. All lots for net-zero homes are located on south-facing lots, adjacent to community gardens and the Pringle Creek preserve area.
