Pringle Creek Community is excited to host an Open Community event! In past years, residents have opened their homes to the Salem community and beyond so that people can come see what living sustainably is all about. This year, we will have a tour of resident homes, our community center and events space, historic spaces zoned for commercial use, innovative and sustainable technologies, and the urban farm. Umpqua Bank will be serving up ice cream, construction loan advice, and perhaps even some live music!
Saturday, June 24th, from 1 – 4:00pm, tours will commence. These include home designs from 1,200 square foot cottage to a 2,100 square foot two-story home. See first-hand how renewable energy works and different options to make your home more energy efficient and achieve LEED Certified standards. Learn about the geothermal loop, pervious pavement, and sustainable land management practices.
Umpqua Bank will be serving up ice cream at Painters Hall, our historic community center and event space that is LEED Platinum Certified. They will also be serving up knowledge on construction loans and other valuable advice on the steps you should know for building a custom home.
Tour the Urban Farm, too! View the historic glass houses (greenhouses) and see sustainable urban farming at its best, and maybe come away with a few tips on how to make your garden thrive. This also includes the chickens, bees, and orchards with activities like a veggie &/or fruit tasting. After this, you may better understand how shared dedicated green space adds value for our residents. On the green, outdoor games will be available to play throughout the day.
Come on by and join the fun while learning what it means to build a custom home and live sustainably!
