We had a GREAT turnout at the Emergency Preparedness event last night! Over 50 people came to Painters Hall to learn about what kind of emergency one could expect in our area and region, what systems are in place, and how to be prepared for anything.
Roger Stevenson, Emergency Preparedness Manager for the City of Salem, gave us a lot of very useful and important information including checklists and a booklet describing what to expect and how to adapt when big event like the impending earthquake hits. If you’d like information, check out the City of Salem’s Emergency Management page.
Next up is Oregon Tilth! Chris Schreiner, Oregon Tilth’s executive director, will be here to discuss how our food purchases impact our landscape. He’ll also help to dispel confusion around food labeling, clarifying for us what is meant by ‘natural,’ ‘organic,’ or ‘GMO-free.’
Oregon Tilth is a leader in organic certification, working to make our food system and agriculture biologically sound. We’re excited to have them here and learn all about the impact we have when we make food purchases. Join us June 30th at 6:00 at Painters Hall, 3911 Village Center Dr SE.
